# Is there a specific reason why viewing revision histories is restricted to registered users?

I noticed that the permissions for viewing revision histories is restricted to registered users. I don't seem to see any reason for this, except probably to stop search engines from viewing them (duplicated content), which can be done through robots.txt, anyway.

If this question reaches at least a net score of +2, I will go ahead and change it to "Anybody", and add on the list of stuff to be done before going public, stopping search engines from viewing edit histories.
