How do photons/schmotons explain interference?

In the famous discussion between Michael Weiss and John Baez about photons (at https://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/photon/schmoton.htm) it is suggested that photons are crowkscrews. See the image at https://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/photon/nicest.htm:
