Ideas for vote button design?

Question

I think it would be nice to have better (probably even physics-ish) vote buttons. The current ones look neither professional nor physics-ish (I really hate the tails personally). Changing the vote buttons is trivial to do through the theme. 

Any ideas?

I have made a larger version of the \(\lvert\uparrow\rangle\lvert\downarrow\rangle \) buttons in my old answer. 

The entire image found in the theme actually occupies the same space, but I have removed the gaps between the arrows. Actually, that was not big enough either, so to make it "look" big, I made the arrow itself longer and wider, so it looks fatter and more noticeable. It actually looks pretty good, in my opinion. 

Does it need to be a bit fatter or wider? 

Of course, it is still very shabby, it's just a draft to get you all to understand what I am proposing. I will improve it if this design has the highest upvotes.

I've tried the \(\lvert\uparrow\rangle\lvert\downarrow\rangle \) but the result is too small. Here are the vote buttons:

I will try to make it look bigger, but I have actually made it as big as possible, I'll need to change the design.

If you want to have more flavors than up and down for voting, I'd like to suggest adding buttons for strange and charm, for a start. Later also bottom and top. 

It would allow for diversification of reasons to vote (kind of content, position on the page).

@physicsnewbie No, I'm proposing all of them. Look at our current vote buttons; one row is for those you can vote on, another is for those you've already voted on, another is when you are hovering over the vote buttons, and the grey one is when you can't click on the vote buttons (e.g. your own posts).
