If you ended up for some reason with more than one accound and want them to be merged, please post an answer in this thread (including links to the accounts to be merged and telling us which one you'd like to keep) and an administrator will help you as soon as possible.

Eventually the user should also tell us, which of the accounts he likes to keep. Only the posts (and naturally also the corresponding points) will be merged, but not the content of the user profile (wall, about, etc.).

Hi,

I am Juan Bermejo Vega from Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics.

I would like to use my old Physics.SE account in this new website:
http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Juan+Bermejo+Vega

In PhysicsOverflow I registered as jbvega
http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/jbvega

Thanks,
Juan

Hi Juan, welcome to PhysicsOverflow :-)!

I have merged Juan Bermejo Vega into jbvega, but you can easily change the user name and other things from your user profile page.

Also, if there are SE posts of yours or others you would like to see on PhysicsOverflow too, you can request them to be imported here.

Hello. I am Eduardo Guerras Valera.

Due to automated import or something, I seem to have several accounts here:

http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Eduardo+Guerras+Vale

http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Eduardo+Guerras+Valera

http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Eduardo+Guerras

I would like all them to be merged into http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Eduardo+Guerras

answered Jun 14, 2014 by Eduardo Guerras (435 points) [ revision history ]

Thanks and greetings to @Dilaton and @Dimension10, who have made this site possible!

Oh Eduardo, nice to see you again :-).

I already wondered what happend to you ...

Hi Eduardo, Welcome to PhysicsOverflow!!

I have merged Eduardo Guerras Valera into Eduardo Guerras. It is unfortunately not possible for me to merge Eduardo Guerras Vale yet (which is probably also why Dilaton didn't act on the merge request), as the account actually was created from a conflict between your SE username (which was imported with your posts) and the maximum possible length of a username in Q2A.

The bug is now solved, but the account "Eduardo Guerras Vale" has not been fixed yet. The only person who can merge this account into your new account is polarkernel (as he is the only one with direct access to the database), but he is unfortunately out of station till tomorrow. But you can continue to normally participate on PhysicsOverflow, so you don't need to worry.

Very sorry for this bug!

@Dilaton A lot of non-physics, er, say... problems that had to be solved. Fortunately I read my PhD thesis a month ago now. Happy to see that you and Dimension10 finally made it!

@Dimension10 Hi! Thanks. Congrats to you too, for bringing this site to life! Good job. I will change now the user name from Eduardo Guerras to Eduardo Guerras Valera.

@EduardoGuerrasValera: I too was wondering where you had disappeared too, glad to see you here and congratulations on your thesis defense!

Congratulations for your thesis defense from me too :-)!

Unfortunately PhysicsOverflow can not offer you a payed job, but nevertheless we think that there could be a task for you here if you are interested  ... ;-)

My user in Physics.SE was lurscher: http://physicsoverflow.org/user/lurscher

Is there any way to merge it to this account?

Hi Charles nice to see you here :-)!

I have now merged Lurscher into CharlesJQuarra, but you can change the username back to Lurscher (or anything you like) from your user page.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Please merge my physics.stackexchange account:

http://physics.stackexchange.com/users/4191/unclejamil

with the new one I setup here:

http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/unclej

I'd prefer to have my username here on physicsoverflow to be unclejamil if that's possible. I accidentally ended up with unclej before I understood what I was doing in the 'reclaim' process.

Totally excited to see this site come online btw!

Welcome to PhysicsOverflow!

I have merged unclejamil into unclej. To change your username, please click the "Edit Profile" button in the top-bar.

Please merge my account with "Scott Aaronson" (imported from physics.SE, I think).  Thanks!!

Hi Scott, welcome to PhysicsOverflow !

I have merged them now.

Also, if there are SE posts you would like to see on PhysicsOverflow too, you can request them to be imported here.

Hello, is the merger pointless if I don't have any imported questions?

If not, can this account and my Physics.SE account be merged? If it is indeed pointless please point it out and I will delete this answer. Thanks in advance.

This is the link to my SE account: http://physics.stackexchange.com/users/43488/photonicboom

Hi PhotonicBoom,

as we are not in the SE network, there is no possibility to link your PhysicsOverflow account to an SE account, and it seems there is not impoted account to merge with the one you write here either.

But if you have on topic SE posts (your own or the ones of others), you can request them to be imported here.

This answer is ok, you do not need to delete it.

Gonna read your answer to Scott Aaronson's question now :-)

Thanks for the reply!

Hello,

I would like to know what happens to Phys.SE account after merging (and posts after importing) it with PhysicsOverflow account, if nothing (I don't want it to be deleted/removed) then I would like to merge my account (http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/GigiButbaia) with my Phys.SE account (http://physics.stackexchange.com/users/21420/gigi-butbaia),

NOTE: there are two separate accounts with my name on this site, first one is the account I'm using now (http://physics.stackexchange.com/users/21420/gigi-butbaia , I registered this account few months ago) and the second one is this account: http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Gigi+Butbaia (which says: "This user is not yet participating on PhysicsOverflow, but we hope he will")

Thanks

Hi @GigiButbaia, welcome to PhysicsOverflow.

When merging imported accounts with newly created accounts here, this has no impact on the original account back on SE.

Also, importing posts some kind of copies them here and adds the attributions, but it does absolutely nothing to the original posts on SE.

If you like, we can merge the imported (where it says that you do not (yet )participate) account with the newly registered one you are writing here.

(As we are not in the SE network, merging original SE accounts with PO accounts is not possible)

Hello @Dilaton, Thanks for reply and answering my questions

If you like, we can merge the imported (where it says that you do not (yet )participate) account with the newly registered one you are writing here.

Yes I would like to merge these accounts

Thanks

Ok, I have merged them now.

Hi!

I am registered at Physics.SE, and a few other .SE accounts. I usually log in there through my Gmail account.

I would like to register here, but I cannot log in via Gmail. Neither can I retain my username "Alexey Bobrick": no password matches, and "forgot password" gives an error.

Could I use my username "Alexey Bobrick" here too? Importing the profile from Physics.SE would be perfectly fine.

Thanks!

Hi Alexey, welcome to PhysicsOverflow!

You can write an email either to me or to admin@physicsoverflow.org, and we will then  send you temporary access data for the account Alexey Bobrick.

Alternatively, you can just register a new account and request it to be merged with the from SE imported one.

@Dilaton, thanks! Will do!
