Why teleport / teleportation , time travel / time machine , outer space travel , & Virtual Reality have not been invented / progressed much yet ?

+ 0 like - 1 dislike

(I apologize beforehand if I'm asking such an 'amateur' question , I admit that I'm not a physics student / physicist nor scientist / science student ,.. but , as just a 'normal ordinary' person, at least I am very interested in these things ,. and how I deeply wish Humanity / Mankind can 'leap forward' make a *real breakthrough* progress for us ourselves , Humanity / Mankind .. so here goes the question) :

if Reality / Real World / Real Life is that boring , mundane , & limited , and if Science Fiction is so much more interesting than the real Science facts , then why all those 'sci-fi' (science-fiction) technologies (just like in the movies / novels / games / anime etc ) like teleport / teleportation , time travel / time machine , outer space travel , & Virtual Reality have not been invented / progressed much yet ?

Why do we Humanity / Mankind waste all our efforts (& Money) only on those petty , stupid , shallow , and meaningless things ? Why Science & Scientists haven't really taken those major/big 'leap of faith' or 'quantum leap' , basically REAL BIG / HUGE 'breakthrough' progress by inventing all those 'super cool' technologies and turn them into reality ?

thank you very much.

Hi niki,

PhysicsOverflow is for graduate-level+ discussions of details of the rather boring things professional physicists and advanced students are doing. Your more general question might be more appropriate on PhysicsForums, were also popular physics question of a more general audience can be discussed and I suggest that you try it there.

Voting to close here.

This question isn't even physics, it's a political/sociological question.

Also, "time travel" and "teleportation" violate causality, sorry to burst your bubble. "Virtual reality" has plenty of development going on if you've ever read this thing called the news. Space exploration is over half a century old (perhaps you used your causality-violating superpowers to come to the present from the 1940s? Welcome to 2016, you have a lot of catching up to do).

Every time a person comes up with a question like this, you're representing your own priorities, that is what you consider to be the "correct" goals for humanity, rather than the actual interests of the individuals whom you claim to care so much about. This kind of dangerous thinking is what lead to Stalin-like dictatorships, and things like eugenics becoming state policy in some countries.

Agree with the close vote.
