Bib Request: Models with 3 generations in the 27 of E6?

I was looking a recent paper of Dubois-Violette and in some of the examples he was aligning three generations of quarks (uncolored?) and leptons in the Jordan algebra h_3(O), if I recall correctly. Well, anyway, this has caused me to wonder if there are GUT models actually using the 27 and its conjugate to put three chiral generations of quarks and leptons.

Is there any known reference doing this? If so, how do they get rid of the extra plethora of leptons? And coloured ones that could happen if you use SU(4) or SU(3) as an extra factor to generate the color.
