  Requests for merging of accounts

If you ended up for some reason with more than one accound and want them to be merged, please post an answer in this thread (including links to the accounts to be merged and telling us which one you'd like to keep) and an administrator will help you as soon as possible.

Eventually the user should also tell us, which of the accounts he likes to keep. Only the posts (and naturally also the corresponding points) will be merged, but not the content of the user profile (wall, about, etc.).

Please merge my current account here (http://physicsoverflow.org/user/Andrey+Feldman) and the automatically imported one from Physics SE (http://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Andrew+Feldman).

P.S. Is it possible to do it automatically? People import posts with my answers and questions from time to time, and I just don't want to disturb you permanently with mergence requests.

I have added these usernames into the automatic username merge list so that the merge should be done automatically in the future. @AndreyFeldman Please tell me, should you change your PO username, so that I can adapt the list.

@AndreyFeldman No, this is not required. On import of new posts, your username on SE will automatically be substituted by the name on PO, but this substitution is actually bound to the names. It would no more work if you change your name on PO, I would have to adapt the substitution list in this case. I am on the way to create code that will allow users to change their name on PO without effect to this substitution, but this will take some time.

@AndreyFeldman You are very obliging! Like this I could remove your name from the substitution list. Thanks!

I am not sure it it is the right place to ask this question, but immediately after our conversation my reputation stopped to grow. It is still 160, but according to the statistics of my activity in answers and questions it must be approximately 240. Could it be any bug related to account merging?

@AndreyFeldman

It is not a bug, but posts in the category "Resources and References"

http://www.physicsoverflow.org/questions/main/community-wiki

are some kind of "community wiki" and do therefore not contribute to the counting of reputation. For example I am not getting reputation for my question about introductary material for category theory either ...

But maybe you have grad-level posts on SE we could import? There is a dedicated thread for requesting posts from SE to be imported

http://www.physicsoverflow.org/4536

or you could also just tell me if we should import your graduate level posts.

Hi Andrey, it is ok for me to merge them ...

The accounts would automatically get merged correctly when importing posts, if the display name were the same on SE and on PO. So maybe you would like to make them the same?

Alternatively @Polarkernel could add the two names to the list of accounts that need to always be merged automatically ...

@polarkernel You mean that I should change my name here to the one I use on Physics SE?

Hi, I am Joshuah Heath from Physics SE. Could you please merge my account with the account for me on Physics Overflow? Thank you.

answered Jun 23, 2017 by Joshuah Heath [ no revision ]

Hi Joshua,

welcome to PhysicsOverflow!

As we are not in the SE network it is not possible to merge the two accounts directly, but a similar outcome can be realized in two steps:

1. To get access to your imported PO account you can write to admin@physicsoverflow.org to obtain temporary login data by email.

2. You can then also your for PO on-topic posts request to be imported here

https://www.physicsoverflow.org/4536

if you would like to have some (or all of them) on PO too or just tell me here.

I want to retain only my SE account.
Could you merge my PO account GotchaP.po into my SE account (https://physics.stackexchange.com/users/130302/gotchap)?

Hi Gotchap,

welcome to PhysicsOverflow !

As we are not in the SE network it is not possible to directly merge or associate PO and SE accounts.

However, if you have questions on SE you would like to have here to you could request them to be imported here or just tell me if you like.

If you change your PO diesplay name to be the same as on SE, the imported questions will automatically get correctly assogned to your account.

Hi.
When I try to change my account name into GotchaP(the same on SE),
there goes "Username is taken - please try another."
I've already imporetd one question(https://www.physicsoverflow.org/38443) from SE.
Is that the cause?
How should I do?

Ah yes, for some reason I overlooked the imported account first ...

Now I have merged GotchaP into Gotcha.po, so you should be able to change the user name now.

Hi, I'm from SE (https://stackexchange.com/users/2604350/tim) and have just created an account here. Could this one possibly be merged with my SE one (keeping my SE one).

answered Dec 30, 2017 by timhosgood (0 points) [ no revision ]

Hi Timhosgood,

welcome to PhysicsOverflow!

As we are not in the SE network, we can not link the two accounts directly.

But if you have for PO on-topic posts on SE that woul would like to see here too, you could request them selectively (or all of them) to be importet here

https://www.physicsoverflow.org/4536

or you could just tell me to import them here.

Hi, could you please merge this account with my other accounts on Mathoverflow, Math.SE and Physics.SE? All the accounts are under the name Sunghyuk Park.

Thank you.

Welcome to PhysicsOverflow!

As we are not in the SE network, we can not link your PO account with your SE accounts directly.

But you can always request your for PO on topic content to be imported, as you already did with the other question.

I would like to merge this account with my SE account:

https://physics.stackexchange.com/users/116526/sahand-tabatabaei

under the SE account.

Thanks!

Hi Sahand Tabatabaei,

welcome to PhysicsOverflow!

As we are outside the SE network, it is not possible to directly link the accounts.

But if you have PO-on topic questions on SE that you would like to import, you can request request them to be imported in this dedicated thread

https://www.physicsoverflow.org/4536

I am HolgerFiedler from SE. I can not regaim my SE account here (I was signed up on SE by google, and my google account does not seem to work here). So I created this new account. Could you help me to merge my SE account to this new one?

Holger

But if you have PO-on topic questions on SE that you would like to import, you can request request them to be imported in this dedicated thread

I am from SE (https://physics.stackexchange.com/users/12225/nglactowns) where I have asked some Graduate level questions which have remained unanswered there. I would like to merge my SE account with this account and also import the questions from that account.

Thanks!

Welcome to PhysicsOverflow. As we are not in the SE network, it is not possible to merge the accounts but we will import your grad-level questions shortly.

Thanks!

Please merge my PSE account

https://physics.stackexchange.com/users/204634/elio-fabri

to my present Physics Overflow one.

As far as I can see, none of my PSE answers were imported (I've been a PSE subscriber for almost 4 years).

Thanks

answered Jul 8, 2022 by Elio Fabri (30 points) [ no revision ]

Hoi Elio,

welcome to PhysicsOverflow and please apologize my answering rather late, as I was on holiday and out of office.
As we are not in the SE network, the accounts can not be directly linked...
But what we can do is import your SE answers to PO, if you wish us to do so?
Best wishes, Dilaton

I made my profile cu2mauro here on PO before knowing that account merging was a thing. Now I requested an import from a question of mine https://www.physicsoverflow.org/43600/what-theory-is-a-non-field-theory?show=43607#c43607 but I assumed it would have been posted under my profile.

Can the profiles of cu2mauro(PO, this profile) and Mauro Giliberti (PO, https://www.physicsoverflow.org/user/Mauro+Giliberti) be merged? I don't really care about which one survives, as long as I have only one account with all the points and questions.

I merged Mauro Giliberti into cu2mauro. For future imports, it should work automatically now.
