Explanation of the physics for the Goethe-Barometer?

I need to present the Goethe Barometer in my physics class, but I’m unsure about its physical principles. Does it relate to the concept of weight pressure, hydrostatic pressure, or the ideal gas law? Can someone explain the basic physics behind it, including the formula for calculating it and how it’s related to these concepts? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
