Simplifying the URL structure

Earlier, on the blog, it was mentioned that we are not completely free to choose the URL structure, because some plug-ins require a specific URL structure. 

However, I just tested changing the URL structure to  /123/why-do-birds-not-sing (the simplest one), and it seemed to work. I tested every single of the plugins in every possible way, and it worked always. 

Why, then, are we using the most complicated,  quite-difficult-to-memorise URL structure /index.php?qa=123&qa_1=why-do-birds-not-sing ?

Hm, I realise that there is one problem indeed with the simplest URL structure. 

The problem is that relative links would not work. This includes, for example, the links in the sidebar. The simplest URL structure which allows relative links is /?qa=123/why-do-birds-sing. Maybe just after we go public, we should change all the relative links to absolute (just without the "trollsouthere14"), and then we can make the URL structure /123/why-do-birds-sing, remember this helps our SEO, at least according to the admin panel instructions.
