Bug in the private message system?

The last few days, my attempts to send private messages via the link in the profile of a user often failed with an error message just saying that it did not work.

And now, even this link to open the private message dialog box seems to have disappeard, as I noted when just trying to reply to a nice message from Xiao-Gang Wen

Is this related to the data base server troubles we currently face?

By the way, I'm pretty sure this is a within-Q2A problem, can't be related to the database connect error.
