Lindbladians are dissipative variants of Hamiltonians; they define Lindblad equations, dissipative generalizations of the quantum Liouville equations $i \hbar \partial_t \rho = [H,\rho]$. The paper discusses Lindbladians that give rise to a dynamics that remains conservative in a subspace, and various uses for them.
