Are neg rep users supposed to be able to comment on their answers and questions?

Is a negative rep user supposed to still be able to comment on their answers and questions, or is this a bug that needs to be fixed?

asked Aug 3, 2014 in Discussion by physicsnewbie (-20 points) [ no revision ]

Hi physicsnewby can you not comment below your posts either now? If not we should ask this to be changed in a feature request.

The change is currently reverted, due to an unexpected controversy about it.

@Dimension10 the temporary reverting should only be as long as it is not clear if negative rep users can still comment below their own post. Negative rep users still being able to comment below their own posts is all that is needed to avoid any cencorship issues Ron mentioned. Please read also my email ... The issue of demanding some minimal standards for the privilege to comment (everywhere) should not be controversial at all !

@Dilaton This feature was not implemented in the Q2A framework. I have inserted it now, so that users may comment on their own questions and answers, even if the required rep is not present. Naturally, this is only possible if no other permission limits (for instance not being logged in) block the user to comment..

@Polarkernel it seems this does not work at present...?

I think negative rep users should still be able to comment on their own posts.

They should also be able to comment on posts where they are specifically mentioned by name, or in threads where they have been pinged.
