$SU(3)$ representations of the Braid Group via Octonions?

In the recent paper http://arxiv.org/pdf/1603.07827.pdf , $SU(2)$ representations of the braid group were obtained using quaternions.

My question is : It is possible to obtain $SU(3)$ representations of the braid group using octonions?
