@RonMaimon I agree, but hide, not delete (delete erases from the database itself).  

@Dilaton On SE, answers can be ordered by time if one needs to, but not here.  

@RonMaimon hiding is ok But concerning references and study material (concerning advanced topics) they newer cluttered any site on SE (not the ones I was interested in) so they will not here either. They were considered legitimate in TP.SE and they are not forbidden on MathOverflow. So please dont introduce this for (advanced) students and people who want to learn about a new topic obstructive SE point of view (in SE they always said you can ask in chat which means forget about it because there are no physics people in chat)

ok, but the point is that it shouldn't come with rep, and it's extremely easy to do, and it only needs to be done once in each topic, so perhaps when reviews are up, it can be done in reviews. You can ask the same question on each topic, I think it's best to make a literature review for each tag on reviews, so that each topic has a set of references people can add to. It's just not effort to find literature.

@Ron Maimon what do you mean exactly by "the post disappeared"?! I hope there's no auto-deletion in Q2A core, like there is on SE.  

I meant it moved to a random position in the questions list, it wasn't bumped anymore.

Nah, I think we do not (yet) have to start deleting, this and the community moderation threads can naturally get pretty long, but I conjecture that thethe number of answers can get large but it should stay finite ...

Ok, hid them. If you find this annoying, unhide. I still think book recommendations belongs in meta, it will clutter up the main site. (I unhid them myself, as it caused the question to disappear for lack of activity)

I think it should; even though GEM is an approximation to GR, it should be on-topic because it can be used for approximating Gravitational Waves, and so on.

Thanks. I noticed that the imported questions will not appear on the first page, probably because the post date is too long ago. I'm wondering if I can bump up some of them to the first page, because for example the unanswered ones can essentially be taken as new questions. @dilaton

@JiaYiyang It appears in the /activity page, which most people check too. 

@dimension10: thanks for the clarification, though I'm not sure if "activity" is users' default option. Before your reply I was only cliking our big "physicsoverflow" logo for updates, which led me to the landing page. 

@dimension10,@Dilaton: Now I am afraid my concern needs to be taken more seriously, you can compare the number of views of questions that appear on first page of main landing page with the first page of Q&A(of course compare the posts that were triggered into "recent activity" at about the same time). there is a huge dismatch .

I think this is worthy of a separate meta post.

Oh yes, they are nice! There is currently a (technical?) issue with importinging questions but we are looking at it and will import them as soon as possible.

Hi @Dilaton, I noticed that the landing page (http://www.physicsoverflow.org/) is not exactly the same as the Q&A page(http://www.physicsoverflow.org//activity/main), for example I bumped up this question, but it only shows up in Q&A, not the landing page. Is it just the way it's supposed to be or is it a mistake in design?

How do I import stuff? I can make a similar list again today, and I don't want to make work for others.

@Ron Maimon Ok, just gave admins permission to import. Use the "Import SE-Question" button in the white navbar.   

I just imported all graduate-questions on PSE since 4 April, so I will assume these are all imported.

I just imported all graduate-questions on PSE since 4 April, so I will assume these are all imported. If you find that any of them are not imported, you can always import them yourself.

WOW, I think we all (all three of us) saw this post quite a while ago, but decided to import them all at the same time, just deleted the duplicates. It would be a huge joke if we double-deleted them too.  

@Ron Maimon By the way, the third one had actually been imported a long time ago, yet you re-imported them. Please remember to check if a question is already imported before importing. Thanks!  

To avoid this keystone cops moment, I think it would be best to add "imported" to the top of the post before actually importing the questions.

@Ron Maimon That's fine for these small import tasks, but what about BIG ones, like Xiao-Gang Wen's?

Oh no! Doubly imported... I just did it too.

@Ron Maimon I know, but my point is that one may take a few days to finish it, and by marking as "[IMPORTED]", users may get confused that we have already imported the posts.
